Program Title

Working with recruiters, from the recruiters point of view

Description

This program is the second of our two part, job-related programs. Last month, Cheryl Landes discussed issues that may arise, from a contractor's point of view.

Our February program is a two person panel discussion, with Caleb Stewart from Randolph Associates, and Carol Szatkowski, from Clear Point Consultants. They will answer questions raised at last month's program, as well as, discuss the following topics:

  • Overview of current job market for tech writers
  • Getting a response: A reality check on expectations during the job search and how to maximize your results!
  • What value does an agency bring? How can you work most effectively with your agency?
  • Rates with and without an agency and what’s behind the curtain.
  • What can you do to stay in the game?
  • How to stay marketable. What skills count. What do employers look for in general.
  • Portfolio
  • What can you do in the interview to land the job?

About the Presenters

Caleb Stewart has worked in the personnel placement industry since graduating from the University of Massachusetts, where he majored in Art History.

In 1984 he co-founded Randolph Associates, Inc., a contract and permanent placement agency for Information Design and Delivery Professionals, where he is Vice President. In his spare time, you’ll find him at home in Belmont gardening, or volunteering for various local charitable organizations. He also enjoys collecting art and antiques, reading, traveling, architecture, classic cars and, antique homes.

Caleb can be reached at Randolph Associates via email to: caleb@greatjobs.com and by telephone: 617-441-8777, Ext. 22.

Carol Szatkowski founded Clear Point Consultants in 1989 as a niche agency specializing in technical communications. As the market evolved, Carol observed companies beginning to shift their attention to designing better products rather than explaining bad designs through documentation. Clear Point refocused on the fast-growing user experience (UX) field, and within a few years grew from a regional staffing provider of UX professionals to one with national recognition. Clear Point continues to place technical writers and technical trainers as well as UX professionals.
